Arc-Resistant Switchgear
Point Eight Power offers a full line of low- and medium-voltage arc-resistant switchgear to help combat the over 30,000 arc flash incidents that occur each year – causing thousands of
Improve safety with our extensive portfolio of arc flash mitigation solutions including arc quenching and arc-resistant switchgear, Power Xpert XGIS switchgear, Power Xpert Dashboard, Power Defense molded case circuit breaker, Insulgard, arc flash relays and more.
For low-voltage switchgear, this rating is also applicable to the secondary door. Type 2 arc-resistant ratings in accordance with IEEE standard C37.20.7 provide for arc-resistant protection around the perimeter of the switchgear with the doors closed.
Arc Quenching Switchgear minimizes or eliminates damage to switchgear in the event of an arc fault, protecting valuable switchgear assets from arc flash damage. It is designed to reduce peak fault current by at least 25% and peak stress on upstream equipment by at least 44% when compared to a bolted fault device.
This requires fast and efficient arc flash detection systems. In case of an arc flash fault, the SELCO arc-flash relay detects and generates a tripping pulse in less than 1 millisecond. This tripping pulse is taken to the circuit breaker (s) that control the supply to the installation.
